Bilateral Strength Imbalances

Did you know you are at greater risk for injury when you have imbalances in your strength? Did you also know there are certain ideal strength ratios?


Here are a few of the basic strength ratios:

1RM Front Squat: 85% of back squat

1RM Deadlift: 120% of back squat

1RM Push Press: 85% of bench press

1RM Clean & Jerk: 80% of back squat

1RM Snatch: 65% of back squat


Are you +/- 5% for each ratio? If not, you may have some strength imbalances or you may lack sound technique on your lifts. Improving these ratios is one of the many things KNP programming addresses to prevent injury and improve weaknesses.
