New Year, Better You
Christmas is over and you may have spent the last month (or two) indulging and spending time with family, friends, and coworkers. The New Year is coming and a lot of you are preparing for your New Year resolution(s). One good thing is, most people are on the same page when it comes to the new year... it’s time to better ourselves and develop new habits and routines. Let me ask you if these resolutions sound familiar...
I will go to the gym before or after work throughout the week.
I will lose 15lbs by March.
I will cut sugars out of my diet.
Or maybe you decided to start a new juice cleanse, keto, or intermittent fasting!
Here are a few reasons why these goals are not sustainable:
1. You are being unrealistic. Thinking you will never miss a day at the gym is just silly. Injuries, family, work, etc. WILL get in the way. Not allowing yourself to
2. It doesn't make you happy. If you hate running, why would you decide to take up running for your resolution? If you hate the taste of vegetables, why would you force yourself to eat 5 servings every day? You have to find what works and fuels your fire.
3. You aren't able to hold yourself accountable. There is a reason people pay nutrition and fitness coaches! They work. Having someone to keep you accountable and make sure you're on the right track has a positive correlation with success.
4. You changed too much at once. All in or nothing. Sound like you? Big changes are the result of small changes over a long period of time. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't have the motivation to change old habits!
